help me listen to Your small still voice. Maybe its making the extra effort to wake up early. Maybe its seeking You in the wee hours of the night. Maybe its pushing aside appointments and computer to wait upon You. Help me listen and discern. Help me be humble and follow Your calling.

how scary is it that while hundreds of thousands of individuals on one side of the world suffers from massive destruction, pain, loss, hopelessness, hunger, hurt, chaos, darkness, here i am sitting comfortably on my couch smelling nice from my bath, surfing the net, blogging, drinking a cup of carrot juice, chatting, laughing with my sister and thinking of how im going to holland v to meet my friends tomorrow night...
while orphans as young as 15months old are given numbers instead of names and health providers have no idea what to do with them seeing that there's lots more victims requiring attention, here i am, complaining that my dad is annoying whenever he comes to sayang me, being sulky when my parents get overprotective and don't allow me to go learn diving..
how often do we actually think about whether the Haitians need help and how we can play our part? how is it that we can remain emotionally ignorant to their plight when they're at their greatest need.. instead, being caught up with trivial matters of life? while they struggle to survive, we stuff ourselves silly with breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and supper, complaining that we've eaten too much/put on too much weight...
even as efforts turn towards aid and rescue, it is evident that man are all imperfect and incapable of creating foolproof solutions. there's a limit to what each of us can do.. but remember Christ who has been jealously guarding our relationship with Him. Christ who died for us out of love, Christ who heals and reconciles, Christ the Prince of Peace, above all powers. As we admit the powerlessness of mankind, let's commit the lives of the Haitians to God in prayer, because we know that He is far greater than any power in this world, and He's always been listening (:

today's devotion reminded me to "Guard jealously my relationship with God"- it implies an almost possesive nature, taking ownership, consciously spending effort protecting it. the past few days saw myself leaving home early in the day and coming home late at night. while meeting up with friends and entertaining visitors may be necessary it wore me out a little and i think it did affect my relationship with God. it's in these small, subtle and harmless ways that one gets tempted and drift away from God.. being caught up with fun activities or even commitments.
how often can i say that i've guarded my relationship with God well enough? it's so easy to push Him out of my life when there seems to be more exciting things to do, to treat the time spent with Him as another item on my to-do list only to be ticked off after everything else gets done. in what way is this committing my days to His plans?
1 Peter 4:7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.
we have somehow become immune to God's miracles in life. the sun rising every morning, the rainbow that comes after the rain, the seed which blooms into a flower, a marriage that lasts for decades, a newborn baby, breathing even when you're sleeping, growing up... how often do we remember God's hand in all these things? He's constantly been guarding our relationship with Him jealously... even to the extent of sending His only beloved Son as an atonement sacrifice for our sins. when will we begin to reciprocate?

i always find it difficult to explain occupational therapy to people. found this on the curtin website
Occupational therapists are well placed to make a huge impact on the world – are you up for the challenge? As an occupational therapist you will have a range of skills and knowledge that can be applied in many settings. Many occupational therapists work with the health, disability and education sectors but more work with industry and charitable organisations.
As an occupational therapist you could be working with individuals who have experienced a stroke or have depression, or a child with autism and his family. You could also work with a person who is homeless, a refugee or asylum seeker.
When you graduate you will be working with individuals, families, groups of people or perhaps whole communities. You could even work in government or large organisations, influencing policy. Opportunities are limitless, which is what makes occupational therapy such a great profession.
Wherever you work and whoever you work with you will be finding ways to support people to achieve and maintain health by helping them engage in the everyday activities of their life – showering, working in a mine, or even skydiving. To enable people to participate in their chosen activities you will consider their abilities, the physical, social and legal environments, and the type of activities they want to perform. You will work with the person to find a solution that meets their needs and make it happen.

1 John 4

i went to bed at 12.30am and talked to my sissy and heard our parents come home and heard them open the door to check if we were asleep and heard them close the door and continued to talk and laugh at her stupid antics at school camp and talent identification (aka CCA audition) and patted her to sleep and heard her snore and heard my parents eating in the living room and turned on the lamp and read parts of the bible and switched off the lamp and heard sissy snore some more and went to get my mobile and tried to surf the net with it and succeeded and visited fb and youtube and tried to upload photos via my mobile but failed and checked that my alarm was on and put the phone back and rolled around my bed and heard my parents go to bed and 3.30am i decided that i should drink some water (i think i ate a lot of expired chocolate shortbread biscuit stuff i found at home this arvo D: ) and decided i'm far too awake to fall asleep anytime soon... maybe its the teh halia. should have gotten milo )): this is so S-I-L-L-Y! why cant this happen during lectures or something...
oh well..

Been reading 1-2-1 discipleship by Christine Dillon and it's really good so i thought i might summarise it and share it with anyone who actually visits this place :D this is chapter one!
1. What is a Disciple
- One on the lifetime process of having their character transformed and moulded to Jesus’ will/ being like Christ is purpose, attitudes and values
- Jesus’ disciples: the twelve disciples, Mary Magdalene, susanna, Joanna (Luke 8:2-3)
- Elijah + Elisha, Paul + Timothy
- 1 Corinthians 11:1 – Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.
- 2 Corinthians 3:18 – And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
- ‘ a Christian who is growing in conformity to Christ, is achieving fruit in evangelism and is working in follow-up to conserve his fruit’ – Gary Kuhne
- John 15:5,7-8 - “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing… if you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”
- You are either a disciple (Christian) or you are not (non-Christian)- no in betweens/differing levels of commitment. 100% commitment!
- Mark 8:34b-38 - “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
- “deny himself” = dying to our own ambitions and dreams
- “ take up his cross and follow me” = live fully for Christ
- AIM of discipleship = Christian maturity
- Disciple – a follower of Jesus who is becoming increasingly like Him
- Discipleship – process of becoming more like Jesus, as we are transformed by the Holy Spirit
- Discipling – meeting of one Christian with one or more others, for the purpose of encouraging them in their spiritual growth to be more like Jesus

i can smell: my turtles 5 metres away in the balcony D: (apparently pure breeds dont smell. hmm)
im up early because jodie going to school is a big family affair. i cant believe her motivation to wake up in the mornings is the computer. it's freaky. she has this ability to glue her eyes on the screen and somehow psycho the people around her to feel more worried than herself that she's not ready for school yet, hence beginning their nagging rituals or in more desperate cases, choosing to help her tie her hair and do up her school tie, making it our business to make sure she's got her bag packed, that she's remembered her wallet etc etc. kids these days... jodie's a big kid!! she still slobbers.
2010 came flying into my face one day and i am so looking forward to
- not squeeze my pimples (HAHA)
- hand in assignments early
- be punctual
- walk close to God
- pass all my units
been spending too much time on tv dramas lately. it's good because its great to sit and laugh with my family, but its too addictive it takes up much of my sleeping time and quiet time. very dangerous. k its actually quite bad.
my mum got me a dog so i wont be lonely in perth. we called him pi lu dou because we got so inspired by the taiwanese drama that calls their dog an dong ni. welcome to the family. this is pi lu dou.
i forgot to mention, he's very sedentary. like owner like dog...
geri and sean are back :D it's gna be another different year. never knew uni years would be the most unroutined days of my life. but it's pretty awesome to see God working on campus :D STALL DAY IM ON MY WAY!
this post is so random but anyhoos... maybe i should change my blog!
